The world of motorcycling mourns the death of Haruki Noguchi. The promising Japanese rider died early Thursday morning in a hospital on the island of Lombok, Indonesia, as a result of the serious injuries he suffered in the second race of the Asia Superbike.

The Japanese biker suffered a multiple accident last Sunday in the tenth corner of the Mandalika circuit when barely four laps had elapsed. Noguchi, who fell to the track after a collision, was run over by the Malaysian driver Kasma Daniel, who could do nothing to avoid the accident.

The test was stopped immediately, and Noguchi was transferred to the circuit’s medical center and later transferred to a hospital. The SDG Honda team, of which Noguchi was a part, deeply regretted the death of its driver through a statement.

“I still can’t believe we have to make this announcement. Just 10 days ago we had the honor of standing on the podium together at the Suzuka 8 Hoursand we had just sent him to Indonesia with the hope that he would win this year’s Asia Road Racing title,” wrote Kotaro Honda, head of SDG.
